The Discrete Global Grid Abstraction Library was developed and is being maintained by Jérôme Jacovella-St-Louis at Ecere Corporation.

Significant progress was achieved as part of a number of initiatives including:

- the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Federated Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure - Phase 3 (FMSDI-3) pilot project ( https://docs.ogc.org/per/23-010.html ),
- the Ecere GeoConnections 2020-2021 project entitled "Flexible real-time data processing and visualization workflows emerging from OGC API modules" ("Modular OGC API Workflows" a.k.a "MOAW"), and
- the Ecere GeoConnections 2025-2027 project entitled "Advancing and Implementing OGC Standards for GeoDataCubes, DGGSs, Data Stores for Digital Twins and Cartographic Symbology").

Special thanks to Perry Peterson, Matthew Purss, Robert Gibb, Idan Shatz, Marta Padilla Ruiz, Brenton R S Recht, Kevin Sahr,
Alexander Kmoch, Luís Moreira de Sousa, and Daniel Strebe for several insights making DGGAL possible.
